Investing in Cyprus
As investors rethink allocations in a higher-rate, more fragmented world, Cyprus and the wider Eastern Mediterranean are coming under closer evaluation as part of Europe’s broader alternatives and real-economy opportunity set. A shifting macro backdrop, rising FDI flows and evolving sector strengths in tech, energy and real estate are prompting UK asset managers to reassess how the region compares with other destinations for long-term capital, and where it belongs in a diversified portfolio.
This half-day conference, hosted by FT Locations in partnership with Invest Cyprus, brought together UK and European asset managers, private markets investors, insurers, policymakers and corporate leaders to examine the region through an investor lens. Through editorially led panels and fireside conversations, the event explored the economic and FDI outlook for Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean and map the main opportunity sets in technology, the energy transition and real estate.
The programme also dug into the practicalities that matter for institutional capital, including legal and regulatory frameworks, fund and deal structuring, talent and skills, and managing geopolitical risk. Using Cyprus as a live case study and gateway into the wider region, it gave decision-makers a clear view of how, and under what conditions, the Eastern Mediterranean can form a credible, scalable component of UK asset managers’ investment strategies.
